Paper and Water
from 19.10 to 19.10
The apparent opposites – paper and water – have much in common. The raw material without which books or works of art would not be created is created using water. During the educational workshops entitled “Paper and Water”, the youngest will learn many scientific curiosities related to the production and use of paper. Free classes from the series “Academy of the Little Explorer” will take place on Saturday, October 19 at the Rumia Port. You can take part in them from 12:00 to 17:00.
Next Saturday, Rumia Port will once again welcome young science enthusiasts eager to discover its secrets. This time, participants will learn many scientific curiosities related to water and paper.
During the free classes, you will be able to learn in practice the historical method of making paper. Under the supervision of instructors, cellulose pulp will be prepared, then the paper will be pressed in an old paper press. Those interested will be able to decorate the resulting sheet of paper with plants.
Participants of the meeting as part of the “Little Explorer’s Academy” series will also learn how to make cards from recycled paper. They will also try their hand at writing with a quill pen and make wax seals, which will allow you to travel back in time to decades past.
After a journey into the history of paper and writing, you will be able to learn more about contemporary art techniques using paper.
Among them will be quilling, a technique for creating decorations from appropriately arranged narrow strips of paper. Those interested will make decorations using the decoupage technique and create works using a method of folding paper, which is flat origami. Each young participant will certainly find something interesting for themselves and develop manual skills.
